Wi‑Fi vs mobile data: what works best for browser calling

When to use Wi‑Fi or cellular data for WebRTC international calls, and how to reduce dropouts and echo.

Wi‑Fi usually wins on stability

Fixed broadband Wi‑Fi tends to offer lower jitter than congested mobile cells. For long calls home, prefer a strong Wi‑Fi signal or a wired connection when possible.

Mobile data when traveling

4G/LTE or 5G can work very well for BLAH! phone. If audio breaks up, move to a location with stronger signal, disable VPN or captive portals, and avoid downloading large files while on a call.

Roaming and carrier restrictions

Some carriers throttle or block VoIP on certain roaming plans. If calls fail only on mobile data, try Wi‑Fi or another network. BLAH! phone billing is separate from your carrier—you pay BLAH! for minutes, not your operator.

Headsets and echo cancellation

Headphones reduce echo and help the built-in echo cancellation in WebRTC. If the other party hears themselves, lower speaker volume or switch to a headset.
